Are you accepting new patients?

Yes! Core Family Dental welcomes new patients and families. Whether you’re looking for a new dental home, have recently moved to Toronto, or haven’t been to the dentist in a while, we’re happy to welcome you.

Do you see both adults and children?

Yes. We provide family dental care for patients of different ages and stages of life. Regular dental visits can help children and adults prevent problems, identify concerns early, and maintain healthy teeth and gums.

What should I expect at my first appointment?

Your first visit typically includes a discussion of your dental and medical history, an examination of your teeth and gums, and any necessary diagnostic X-rays or other assessments.

Your dentist will explain what they see, answer your questions, and discuss any recommended treatment with you. We believe you should understand your options before making decisions about your dental care.

I haven't been to the dentist in years. Is that a problem?

Not at all. You’re welcome at Core Family Dental whether it has been six months, six years, or longer since your last dental visit.

If you’re nervous or unsure about what to expect, let our team know. We’ll take things one step at a time and focus on helping you feel comfortable.

Does Core Family Dental accept the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)?

Yes, Core Family Dental accepts eligible patients with CDCP coverage.

The Canadian Dental Care Plan can help reduce the cost of many dental services for eligible Canadians. Depending on your income, treatment, and the CDCP’s established fees, you may have a co-payment or other amount to pay.

The CDCP covers a range of services, including certain exams, X-rays, cleanings, fillings, root canal treatments, periodontal care, extractions, dentures, and other eligible services. Some treatments require preauthorization, and not every dental service is covered.

Can you check my CDCP coverage before my appointment?

We can help review your CDCP information and determine what information is available regarding your coverage.

The Government of Canada recommends that CDCP patients confirm that their coverage is active, understand their co-payment level, and ask their dental provider about any additional costs before receiving treatment.

How often should I have my teeth cleaned?

Professional cleaning frequency varies from patient to patient. Some people may benefit from routine cleanings every six months, while others with gum disease or a higher risk of dental problems may need more frequent care.

Your hygienist and dentist can recommend a schedule based on your individual oral health.

How often should I visit the dentist?

Many patients benefit from regular dental examinations and professional cleanings, but there is no single schedule that is right for everyone.

Your recommended recall interval depends on factors such as your oral health, gum health, cavity risk, dental history, age, and other individual considerations. Your dental team can recommend an appropriate schedule for you.

Why do I need dental X-rays?

Dental X-rays allow your dentist to see areas that cannot be fully evaluated during a visual examination. They can help identify issues such as cavities between teeth, changes around tooth roots, bone loss, infections, and other conditions.

The type and frequency of X-rays should be based on your individual needs rather than performed automatically at every visit.

Why do my gums bleed when I brush or floss?

Bleeding gums can be a sign of gum inflammation and may be associated with plaque buildup or gum disease. It is not something you should simply ignore.

Improving brushing and flossing can help in some cases, but persistent bleeding should be evaluated by a dental professional. Your dentist or hygienist can determine what is causing the bleeding and recommend appropriate care.

Do you offer direct insurance billing?

Yes. We can submit your dental insurance claim directly upon request.
